The town of Sitges is situated 35km.to the south of Barcelona (and 20 km. from the international airport Barcelona-El Prat).

It is recognized for its excellent beaches, artistic heritage and intense cultural life. The population in Sitges is approximately 30,000, although in the summer time this population remarkably increases.

The majestic ' Palacio de Maricel', the main church of San Bartolomé (whose silhouette against the sea is the main icon of Sitges) and numerous palace houses built by 'Indianos' (Spaniards who returned to Spain having made their fortune in Latin America) following modernist style, are the most remarkable in the architectural heritage of the town. Several museums also talk about the cultural splendor in the named time of modernism, between the XIX and XX century.

Besides, Sitges stands out for housing numerous cultural and festive events, among them, and with our already traditional "Festival de Tango de Sitges" - its Carnival and its International Cinema Festival are especially recognized.
