Dear friends, tangueros/as:

This year we will celebrate our Festival's nineteenth edition with some very significant developments, reflecting our desire to always try to improve and to be able to offer, year after year, a more attractive festival.
Among these, the most important new, without doubt, is that having reached an agreement with the City Council of Sitges, we may now announce that, starting this year, we will be changing the venue of our evening activities (milongas and shows) to the magnificent and beautiful venue, Jardines de Terramar. This change will provide us with more space and time for our activities, a better quality dance floor (350 m. Square parquet dance floor) in a very privileged setting. We are particularly pleased as this change fulfils an old dream for the Festival organizers.
Since the new venue, Jardines de Terramar, is located in the far southern end of Sitges, outside of the town centre (about 30 min. walk), each night we will offer a regular, inexpensive shuttle service back and forth to milongas from the centre of Sitges to the venue.
This new space, given its great capacity, allows us once again, after several years of not doing so, to organize a Main Festival Show "Tango with the stars" (theatre-style show which will involve all the dancers and musicians present at the Festival). This show will be held on the night of Saturday, July 21 and those registered for the Festival will be able to purchase tickets at a special price.
With regards to our evening activities, we will try to collaborate with the City Council and the Police, in order to improve our "after-hours" until dawn beach front milongas, there will be a designated, closed off space at the Paseo Maritimo for more comfort and safety of participants.
As another important development for this year, in response to the demand of many people who traditionally stay in Sitges for one or more days after the Festival to rest and sightseeing, we will extend our activities one day longer than indicated on the usual schedule. Therefore, on Monday July 23 we have scheduled an activity, called "Extra Day After-Festival", consisting of a trip (milonga included, obviously) in the vineyards of Alt Penedes region near Sitges. This region, which boasts beautiful scenery, is a paradise for lovers of wine and cava (the Catalan "champagne", for those unfamiliar with this term).
Last but not least, and we believe this new will be very well received by all our participants, is the grand prize of a trip to Buenos Aires for two (including airfare and one week stay in a five star hotel), to be drawn in a raffle among all registered participants at our Festival on the evening of Saturday, July 21. This award comes courtesy of the National Institute of Tourism (Ministry of Tourism of Argentina) who will also be organizing an exhibition of photographs of Argentina which will be displayed throughout the duration of our Festival in the magnificent Palau de Maricel, on loan for the occasion by the City Council of Sitges.
With regards to the participating artists, this year we are again proud to present, despite the actual difficult economic crisis, a first class cast.
We are especially pleased to welcome as our special guest, for the first time in the history of our Festival, the great tango icon of recent decades, Miguel Angel Zotto, to whom we will pay a special tribute (Sunday July 22) in celebration of the 30th year of his career.
We are happy to announce, also first-time participants, and in this case under the sponsorship of World Tango Festival, Buenos Aires 2012 - the participation of Sebastian Jimenez and Maria Ines Bogado, 2010 World Champions of Tango Salon and one of the couples who have had the greatest impact on the tango scene worldwide during the last two years.
We also welcome for the first time Marcelo Ramer and Selva Mastroti, who this year will occupy the space that our Festival traditionally reserves for up and coming artists working across Europe on the tango scene.
And, needless to say, we also celebrate the presence of all those artists whose presence has been repeated in our Festival as a result of their excellent work in previous editions (Sebastian Arce and Mariana Montes– great animators in recent editions of our festival, Rubén and Sabrina Véliz, Marcela Troncoso, Orchestra Ensemble Hyperion).
In short, dear friends and fellow tangueros, everything is set to make this nineteenth edition of our Festival an unforgettable edition, in which we will try to combine, as accurately as possible, the many new additions with the festive and participatory spirit and the great artistic talent that has always characterized us.
Obviously and most importantly, all of this will be possible, as always, thanks to your presence and your support ... We are looking forward to welcoming you once again to our great summer tango reunion, the oldest and most cosmopolitan in Europe ...

See you in SITGES´ 2012!
