MIGUEL ANGEL ZOTTO (Argentina) (Invitado especial)
Miguel Angel Zotto.
Considered one of the greatest tango dancers for the past 3 decades, a true reference to the level of argentine and global tango. He debuted professionally in the early 80's, under the guidance of the renowned contempory choreographer Ana María Steckelman.
He danced for several years during the 80's in the famous show "Tango Argentino" largely responsible for the resurrection of tango in Argentina itself, given its previous success on an international level.
In 1988, along with his then partner, Milena Plebs, he founded the company "TangoX2" which continues today under his direction. Over the years, numerous musicians, singers and dancers, who subsequently have become major tango figures, have passed through "TangoX2". The sadly missed, Osvaldo Zotto, Miguel Angel's younger brother, stood out among them.
Alongside this work, Miguel Angel Zotto is also recognized for his incessant teaching and, especially, for having devoted so much time to the research and collection of graphic and oral references regarding the various styles of tango-dance, from its origins to this day. This material has served, among others, as a source of inspiration from which MA Zotto has created much of the choreographies of his various shows, all of them continuing to be of the most authentic tango tradition. Without a doubt, we consider Miguel Angel Zotto as the flagship of Argentine tango in recent decades.
We are particularly happy that he will perform for the first time at our festival this year, which will provide a fitting tribute for his 30 years of professional tango.
Note: Since the current companion and dance partner of Miguel Angel Zotto, Daiana Gúspero, recently gave birth, Miguel will perform at our festival with Magdalena Valdez, one of the young and excellent dancers currently performing with "TangoX2".
Magdalena Valdez is a young dancer who, despite her youth, already boasts extensive professional experience, highlights of her career include her participation in recent years in the casts of the main tango houses of Buenos Aires (for example; the famous "Esquina Carlos Gardel") and in the company "TangoX2" directed by Miguel Angel Zotto, with which she has performed throughout 2012 in many countries around the world.

SEBASTIÁN JIMÉNEZ & MARÍA INÉS BOGADO (ARGENTINA)
Since establishing themselves as World Champions of Tango Salón in 2010, this young couple is, without a doubt, one of the greatest revelations of the moment. This couple, with great talent, combine skillful technique with an unmistakeable 'milonga' flavour, thanks to, despite their youth, the many hours spent in contact with old tango dancers and the milonga environment. In the last 2 years, this couple have toured numerous countries in Europe, America and even the Far East. They perform in our festival for the first time, under the sponsorship of the City Council of Buenos Aires (Mundial de Tango). |
